Difference between LED bulbs and other lamps

What is the difference between LED bulbs and other lamps?

LED lights are used to illuminate homes, offices, production facilities or streets. The source of light in them is a diode consisting of tiny crystals. In other types of lamps, light emits a hot spiral, gas or mercury.
One of the most popular questions is how the LED bulb differs from the LED one. The answer is nothing. These are two names for the same type of lamp. The acronym LED means Light Emitting Diode, LED. Different descriptions refer to the same lamps.
They are distinguished by power, color temperature range, resistance to external influences. Compared to other types of lamps, they have many advantages: they work longer, do not emit toxic substances, work at voltages of 180 to 260 B, consume less electricity.

What is the difference between LED bulbs and other lighting sources

Often LED lights are compared with conventional incandescent lamps, halogen, and fluorescent lamps. So, let's see how the LED lamp differs from the usual one.

Incandescent lamps:
The first thing that distinguishes LED bulbs from incandescent bulbs is the glowing element. Inside the pear of the incandescent lamp, there is a metal spiral that emits light, unmasking. Such devices are cheap, suitable for most fixtures, instantly light up when turned on.

The disadvantages of this type of lighting:
Short working hours. The lamp has a lifespan of about 1,000 hours and the LED has a lifespan of about 100,000 hours.
High energy consumption. Only one-tenth of the energy consumed is converted into light, the remaining 90% is consumed in the form of heat.

Fluorescent lamps:
To understand how LED bulbs differ from fluorescent ones, you need to know how they work. The diode glows in LED bulbs. A fluorescent lamp is a tube filled with luminophore. It consumes less electricity than an incandescent bulb and lasts longer: 2,000 to 20,000 hours.

But the fluorescent lamp has a number of problems:
Mercury content - from 10 mg to 1 g per flask. The lamp is toxic and dangerous to the environment.
Flicker. The lamp is sensitive to current jumps. Constant flickering irritates and tires of vision.
Burnout. Luminophore is formed over time - the spectrum of the lamp changes, and the light output decreases.

Ultraviolet lamps:
What is the difference between an LED lamp and an ultraviolet lamp? The latter works just like a fluorescent. Ultraviolet light occurs when electromagnetic discharges inflame mercury vapors in a flask. A special glass that lets in ultraviolet light is used to make such a lamp.
The main danger of this light source - mercury vapors, which are released into the air when heated flask. And if it breaks, you'll have to clean the room of toxic metals.

Halogen lamps:
What is the difference between fluorescent and halogen lamps: first of all the principle of operation. A “halogen” is essentially an incandescent lamp whose bulb is filled with halogen vapor. This extends its lifespan to 4,000 hours.

Disadvantages of halogen lamps:
Severe heat. The temperature of the light bulb rises due to the gases inside. This can burn or cause a fire.
Fragile. You can only take it on the case. If you touch the surface of the lamp, it will burn out.

How the LED lamp differs from the energy-saving one: the main competitor:

LED bulbs are often confused with energy-saving ones, although these two types are completely different. Housekeepers have long been the best on the market, but LEDs quickly surpassed them inefficiency.

An energy-saving or compact fluorescent lamp consumes five times less energy than an incandescent bulb at the same brightness. But it has its own characteristics:

An uncomfortable flask. A large pear or spiral often does not fit into the ceiling and does not look very attractive.
Warm-up time. At the moment of inclusion, the light bulb shines dimmer, gradually warming up.
The oscillation of light. Subtle flickering causes eye strain and headaches.
The main drawback of LED lights compared to other types of lighting is the high cost. But this is offset by such advantages:
Profitability. Incandescent bulbs burn out after a few months, and LEDs last up to 5 years.
Resistance to external influences. A diode will not spoil in the cold or in the rain. Operating temperature: from -20 to 40. A sturdy cover will protect it during a fall.
Safety. The lamp does not contain toxic substances and is not heated to a temperature that can cause a fire.

Choosing the lighting for the ceiling

Choosing the lighting for the ceiling: LED ceiling lights are installed in apartments, offices, shops, at work and even on the street on verandas and terraces. Such lamps are suitable for creating local and general lighting - and even for lighting facades. The lamps on the ceiling vary in the number of lamps, light flow, shape and size, power, purpose, protection class and many other factors. You can easily pick up fixtures for a large hall, cozy bedroom or even a parking/warehouse. Methods for fixing ceiling lamps: The way the lamp is installed depends on the type of ceiling and the design of the room. There are 3 ways to install LED lights: 1. Overhead ceiling lamps are installed on the ceiling. They don't need special recesses. There are models of different power and sizes, for large and small rooms. 2. Suspension mount on cables. They are selected for rooms with high ceilings. There are pendants in which you can adjust the length of the cord. They are installed on

How to choose lighting for sports grounds

How to choose the right lighting for sports grounds? A good level of lighting contributes to the game of athletes. In good light, players are more comfortable to follow the ball, they can more accurately assess their speed, track the trajectory of opponents and team members. Athletes will show the best results, and the audience will appreciate their efforts with good visibility. Lighting quality is also important for broadcasting high definition video. In insufficient light, the picture is conveyed vaguely, loses clarity and detail. This reduces the pleasure of television fans from watching the match. It is more difficult for judges to solve controversial issues without quality video and give an honest assessment to the players. Proper coverage of the grounds meets 4 criteria: 1. Profitability. A large number of lighting devices are used to illuminate the sports ground, which works continuously for 3-4 hours. To reduce energy costs, contractors choose long-lasting energy-sa

How to choose lighting in the hallway

How to choose lighting in the hallway: The hallway is an important room where we not only leave outerwear, shoes, bags but also meet and accompany guests. Therefore, space here should be organized as ergonomically as possible. It is important to choose not only suitable furniture and design but also competent lighting: practical and convenient. Why is it important to light the corridor? A corridor is a place where there is often no natural light. This is especially true for residential apartments. Crossing the threshold, we find ourselves in a room that is rarely even sufficiently illuminated even during the day. So you need to properly illuminate it to comfortably put on and dress, before going out to look in the mirror. If the lighting in the corridor in the apartment is not organized correctly, people often stumble on the doorstep, long can not find umbrellas, keys and other important things. 3 types of lighting in the corridor: 1. General provisions - installed on the
